LIGAR: Learning to connect

HOM’s experience as a LIGAR program trainee, a training project by Cáritas Portugal.

HOM has been taking part in LIGAR, a training program specialized in non-profit organizations focused on migrants, conducted by Cáritas Portugal. The aim of the project is defined by the organization as “mobilizing partners, capacitating social agents and promoting collaborative work”.

These sessions have come to an end last week, but the knowledge we gained will endure for the course of our path from now on. Through practical exercises, we reflected on our identity and values, which as a young association is crucial to garantee that our team is on the same page when it comes to our mission.

We also had the amazing opportunity to hear from external professionals in advocacy and intercultural communication, which gave us very rich material to build our upcoming projects on.

For the final part of LIGAR Program by Cáritas Portugal, we had two very nice talks with two associations in Portugal, moderated by our Cáritas trainers: Associação dos Ucranianos em Portugal and Associação Comunidade Islâmica da Tapada das Mercês e Mem-Martins (ACITMMM). From here we hope to build an interesting partnership to reinforce the support given in Portugal to displaced people!

A big thank you to Ligar Program’s instructors and to Cáritas Portugal for the opportunity!
